What'd you guys think of it? I loved it myself, though a boot camp scene would've been nice, or dedicating the entire episode to them spending time with their wives, families, whatever.

Just watched it Really enjoyed it. The prologue was shorter than BoB, but still outlayed the situation at home pretty well. They'll probably get back to that in a few episodes. BoB already had a long bootcamp scene, so I'm glad they didn't just port over that whole concept.

Great wink to the Ohama beach scene from Saving Private Ryan there.. I lolled

I quite liked it.

Even though they didn't do the first episode in a bootcamp it was good that it wasn't overly action filled (can't wait for Iwo Jima btw).

Also, the bit where the Captain goes nuts. what do they have against captains in the first episode? First sobel, now this..

I had no idea that marines were equipped with ancient equipment like those outdated MGs and those 1918 bolt action rifles lol.

Also I feel what lets pacific down is the lack of character building. By episode 2 in BoB I knew many characters and lots about them whereas in this I dont think I can name more than 2 characters and I hardly know anything about them. I also keep getting the main characters confused.

However hip shooting the mg then finishing off 3 guys with a colt 45 to the head was immense. Highlights well how bloody, terrifying and close quarters the pacific was.
